Mark 9:24 (NASB95)
My struggles over the past few days have been that of my unbelief. Not
in God, not in my Lord, Jesus Christ, but in myself. It’s an unbelief that
questions, “why does God really care or want to help me?”
Right now, to be honest, my only problems in life are money problems. I
have no health problems, my family has no health problems, we have food to eat,
a roof over our heads and yet I still have unbelief. Why would God care about
my money problems, when so many people in the world have problems money cannot fix?
I am thankful that my only problems are money related, but this is where
questions lie within me. Why, if I am doing the things God is asking me to do,
would He allow me to struggle in this area more than any other? Why of all the
things of the world to worry about, do I focus on money?
God wrote about money more than any other topic in the bible, besides
love.
He said in 1 Timothy 6:10
(NASB95) 10 "For the love
of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have
wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief’s".
Is their unbelief in your life? Take the focus on that problem or
issue, give it to God and place Him in your focus once again. And ask him to
help you with your unbelief. Build your relationship with Him and all other
problems will seem to fade away.

The love of money is the root of all evil. If money is your god then it is time for a new mind set. Before you buy something wait one day before you purchase something, usually after sleeping on it you decided you can really do without whatever it is that you wanted. I believe God wants us to have nice things, but there has to be a cut off somewhere. So think, pray and ponder before you make a purchase on little things and bigs things. I don't have a lot of money and I have learned to be content in knowing that there are so many things I won't ever be able to purchase. If you can't pay cash you don't need. God bless you and cut us those credit cards!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds to me like the healthy growth of one seeking to grow in grace. I sometimes think that God has not blessed me with wealth because I would hold on to it too much and not pass it on as freely as He would want.
ReplyDeleteGrace and peace.
Love this post and that verse! In my walk it's been a go to verse for me. Even though I've surrendered my life to God there are biblical instructions that I know are right but still struggle with believing. The logical side of me trys to reason it all out. This is where I ask God for the strength and help in my unbelief. He always comes through.
ReplyDeleteI remember Paul once writing about his struggle with a "thorn in the flesh" and even though he never specified what it was he did mention that it strengthened his dependence on God. I think we all have these thorns that helps us require God's grace and draws us clsoer to Him.
If we're honest with ourselves, we ALL pray that prayer on occasion.
ReplyDeleteDifficult in a sense. You need money to survive and live. If you don't have a job or are low paid then you may be concerned about money and that is not a crime. If you are abusing money and getting yourself into debt and other serious problems then you have issues.
ReplyDeleteWanting money is not a sin, in the right context, but the bible does speak about loving it in such a way that it becomes you god, is evil.
I don't think that a real God would be biased as to not caring about anyone because 'money problems' are deemed less important. Wouldn't every problem be important? That's just my personal opinion. Sometimes we put ourselves into difficult situations and we think that God is trying to teach us a lesson. Just a thought. Nice post though.
Hey guys, thank you for your comments. I agree with all of you, it's not an easy subject or thought process with money. We all need to make sure money is a tool and not an idol. Praying for you all. God bless,
